And we are live! Our founder's story...

Dear friends,

Thank you so much for the overwhelming support!

My name is Margot, and I am the founder of Matina, a Seattle-based online store featuring Filipino designers. I was born in Davao, in the Philippines, and spent my childhood summers at our ancestral home in Matina, Davao City. I grew up in Manila, and after college, I moved to San Francisco. I lived there for 14 years, worked in finance, and eventually moved and settled down in Seattle.

A few months ago, my family and I were on our annual trip home to the Philippines and spent a few weeks in Manila. One of my best friends, Pia, had successfully started her clothing line, Unif0rm, and in less than a year, her brand had garnered a cult following, and demand for her designs quickly skyrocketed.

I set out to find other talented, up-and-coming designers in Manila - and discovered Anika's collection. Anika, just like Pia, has seen the same explosive growth in the Philippines.

I was brimming with pride. I wanted a way to provide my friends in the US, and fellow Filipino-Americans, access to the talent we have back home. I am proud of my cultural heritage, as much as I am proud of my own personal journey. It was from this idea that Matina was born: a way to express both at once.

We are very excited to announce that we are open for business today! 8-8-16!!!

We will be adding more featured Filipino designers to our roster in the coming months, and as a valued subscriber, we will definitely keep you posted!

Pia See, the brains behind unif0rm. She is known for her style, and her brand's high quality craftsmanship. Pia's vision for her brand is to be seen as the daily "go to outfit" of the sophisticated modern woman, hence her brand name.

The very talented Anika Martirez, is the designer behind her namesake brand Anika. Anika was named one of the most promising forces in the local Philippine fashion scene by Mega Magazine, and is quickly becoming one of the most sought after brands.

Thank you sincerely for your support.
Mabuhay!

See you soon,
Margot Henry
